FAN Take: No Autographs, Please

FAN Take is a series that highlights trending events, issues, and decisions in the world of sports and analyzes how they may or may not factor into the Fan Controlled Football League. We would love to hear your feedback, so let us know what you think about each FAN Take!

Nobody loves a rivalry as much as we do, and the Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants is always entertaining to watch. Something we don’t enjoy seeing? A football player snubbing a young fan. We absolutely understand a player not stopping for every autograph, even if it’s for a fan of the opposing team, but when they’re young… even that’s too much for us to handle. Following Sunday’s game, a young fan in a Barkley Giants jersey asked Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence for an autograph, to which Lawrence replied, “get the right jersey, son.” Ouch. The clip quickly went viral, and Lawrence wanted to make his stance clear:

While we understand Lawrence only wanting to give autographs for fans of his team, we don’t think he needed to say anything to the young fan. He could have just as easily kept walking towards the bus, ready to head home for the day. But that’s just what we think – what about you, fans? Was Lawrence being unfair to refuse signing something for a child? Or do you think someone can be a fan of any player, regardless of their team? If you saw one of your own players doing this, would that impact your play calling during the next game to give them less opportunity to shine? Let us know!

Power To The Fans!
