While we were all excited for the return of college football, Pepsi crowned the winner of its inaugural Paper Football Championship. 22 NFL superstars showed up for the tabletop competition, including Offensive Rookie of the Year, Saquon Barkley. But in the end, there could only be one winner, who happened set a league-record of 14 points in 40 seconds: Travis Kelce. While Pepsi has only released a teaser of the competition, we did get to tune in to an interview between Kelce and Rich Eisen. We’re getting some serious Spinal Tap vibes from this whole thing (we hope at least some of our fans are old enough for this reference), but we can’t wait for more footage!
We actually love the idea of an off-field competition for our athletes, especially one that shouldn’t put them at risk of injury so close to the season. So is this something the fans want to see their players do? Maybe, but we think that they might want the athletes to do something a little more entertaining. We think they’d prefer to see something that falls somewhere between Wipeout and American Ninja Warrior. If you could see the guys from your team participate in an extracurricular challenge, what would it be?
