FAN Take is a series that highlights trending events, issues, and decisions in the world of sports and analyzes how they may or may not factor into the Fan Controlled Football League. We would love to hear your feedback, so let us know what you think about each FAN Take!
Meet Lamar Jackson. Star QB of the Baltimore Ravens, possibly the next MVP if Mark Ingram has anything to say about it. He’s a Heisman Trophy winner and while he was the last pick of the first round by the Ravens, he’s also been one of their best picks in recent years. You might be thinking, “I already know all of this, why are you telling me?” Well here’s the thing, fans – New York Jets GM Mike Maccagnan didn’t think he’d amount to much. In a recent interview, comedic legend Larry David recently revealed that he personally called Maccagnan prior to the 2018 NFL Draft and told him to draft Jackson, only for him to be condescending and laugh at David’s idea. It’s okay though fans, karma came for Maccagnan, who lost his job shortly after that draft.

In a way, Larry David is all of us – just with much better connections. We’ve all been there before, looking through prospects and trying to figure out who the best fit for your team is, only for your team to select someone completely different. How will the fans change that in the FCFL, aside from having the power to vote on who gets selected each round? How will the fans really make their voices stand out from all the other fans affiliated with their team? Will they spam group Discord chats? Will they make their own Twitter campaign for a particular player to be drafted to their team? Maybe try to slide into the DMs of their Team Owner | Fan Captain to make sure they have an influencer hearing their case? Let us know what you plan to do, fans!
