Just in time for the Fourth of July, the US Women’s National Team gave us one more reason to celebrate this holiday weekend: they are headed to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals! While we may have all been watching the game in the office, the USWNT made sure to SHOW UP for the semifinals. When it was announced this morning that Jill Ellis made the decision to bench Megan Rapinoe ahead of today’s game against England, people were losing their minds (see the below tweet).

Looks like the joke is on all those suckers that didn’t understand how deep the talent goes in the US roster. Just so we’re all clear, Christen Press, who started over Rapinoe, scored the first goal of the game. So while we think Rapinoe is amazing (how could you not), Ellis clearly knows what she’s doing. It goes without saying that we trust our fans – why else would we be putting them in control of an entire football league? So would we ever question their decision to call certain plays or start some players over others? NO! This is your league, fans. We know you’re going to make the right decisions. Sure, from time to time, you might make a call that didn’t work out too well, but we trust that you’ll learn from those mistakes.
