We might be a little late to the game on this one, but we have a feeling most of our fans are out of the loop on a new start-up league. No, this time it isn’t football (we’ve got that covered on our end). Your newest sports league is *drumroll* the International Swimming League! From what we can tell, this league is a swim meet combined with an EDM concert with a touch of the showmanship you see in the WWE and some major prize money. Founded by billionaire Konstantin Grigorishin, the league aims to build an international audience for the sport and give the athletes a new platform to compete, earn a living, and have a whole lot of fun. Currently, there are four US teams (Washington DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York) and four European teams (London, Turkey, Italy, Budapest), each made up of a roster of 32 swimmers, but the league is expected to expand to more teams for the next season.

Do we think the fans are excited for something like the International Swimming League? Honestly, yes! First of all, swimming is one of those sports that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last second – and second, you don’t have to be on the edge of said seats for long because the competitions are quick. Usually in swimming, you’d be stuck watching races for an entire day, but now you get three dozen races packed into two-hour sessions on back-to-back days (sounds pretty familiar, right?). But then to add in light shows and actual DJs to the whole experience – who wouldn’t want to check this out? One thing’s for sure, we can definitely identify with a new league that wants to shake up their traditional sport and make it more meaningful for the athletes while elevating the fan experience!
