FAN Take is a series that highlights trending events, issues, and decisions in the world of sports and analyzes how they may or may not factor into the Fan Controlled Football League. We would love to hear your feedback, so let us know what you think about each FAN Take!

Last month, Team USA was absolutely destroyed at the FIBA World Cup, where they came in 7th place. Quite a few NBA stars backed out of the tournament, including James Harden, who said he did in order to focus more on playing with Russell Westbrook again this season. And now, many of them are announcing that they want to help Team USA bring home a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games. Harden finds himself in good company alongside Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors), Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors), and Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers). They have all made their intentions clear, and it’s only a matter of time before more stars try to find their way onto Team USA.

We can’t help but wonder if those stars that couldn’t be bothered with the FIBA World Cup deserve to represent the United States in Tokyo next summer. If you were the person in charge of selecting the 2020 Olympic roster, would you give priority to those that participated at the FIBA World Cup? Or, given how badly they performed, would you welcome A-list players to increase your chances in Tokyo? And when it comes to the Fan Controlled Football League, if you had a roster full of amazing talent that didn’t want to practice but expected to be on the field come game time, what would you do? Do you think your athletes should have to put in the work to earn their spot? Let us know what kind of decisions you’d be making!
