Yesterday, NFL fans were sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting for the 2019 season schedule to FINALLY be released. Even though there were plenty of leaked games, and an entire Twitter account dedicated to sharing completely made-up match-ups, it wasn’t until 5pm PT that fans could finally begin planning their schedules for the fall (us included). More importantly, the 32 NFL teams had the opportunity to share their schedules in their own ways.
The Los Angeles Chargers went with both an infographic to drive the point home that they had switched back to their powder blue uniforms and a video of amazing stock footage that represents each one of their opponents. The Cleveland Browns went with a clip showcasing how outdated their front office really is. The Denver Broncos gave us an inside look at their team’s group text looked like following the schedule release. And last but not least, the Atlanta Falcons threw some serious shade at the New Orleans Saints with their Game of Thrones-themed video. As you see the Saints marching into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, a loose ram knocks one of them down before a referee runs out to say there was no pass interference. This would probably be more fitting if it were the Los Angeles Rams making the joke, but from a team that blew a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI, it just looks petty and smells of desperation.
Obviously, we can’t announce our league schedule until we have announced the remaining Team Owners | Fan Captains and you have named your teams. But once all of that business is settled, we can’t wait to see how you put your own twist on your team’s schedules! Maybe don’t go with something as visually-aggressive as the NFL did (seriously, what were they thinking?). But we want to see you fans really own your team personality and take whatever shots necessary at your opponents. We expect to see some serious trash talking from the fans of Richard Sherman and Kinda Funny’s respective teams. We hope to see all of you Prince Royce fans take some subtle digs at the other teams while making sure your guys look as badass as possible. Whatever you do, just don’t be as lame as the Los Angeles Rams or Cincinnatti Bengals with their announcements.
